Random Acts of Kindness

Pagans and Pagan-y people enjoy a lot of freedoms those of other religions do not. We are not generally told "no" by anyone, excepting our own (and our cosmic/metaphysical) sense of right and wrong, and in certain cases by a few trusted friends. I realize there are those out there that aren't solitary practitioners, but I humbly ask you bear with me and concede that we are a freewheeling lot on the whole.

This means we get perks like sleeping in on Sundays, don't have to give up money to the collection plate, and in general aren't expected to attend to, or give a whole lot of work on behalf of, things that do not directly concern us. To me, this just makes the times we do come together and bond for the sake of helping a greater good something really special and very effective, because we're giving of our will.

That being said, I'm sending up a gentle call to the wonderful men and women there who walk the mystical paths to do something for your fellow people in the next week. I imagine a good number of you make a habit out of it already, but go a little above and beyond this week...notably, do something difficult, strenuous, or reach across social barriers you normally would not to make someone else's life a little easier this week. Forget about looking silly - do something karmically good in the next few days and get the summer off to a happy start.

Thank you for the call to provide some amount of comfort to our fellow men, women and children!

I've already got my karmic good deed in the works, as I am a volunteer with a group in the city I live an hour away from. Next weekend I will be volunteering my time at the health and fitness expo, helping to bring information on healthier living to inner city youth and families, as well as the general public. After that, it's off to the recording studio to record another book for the blind and dyslexic.

Fantastic :) You clearly have a good heart and a strong sense of social responsibility...the world could use more like you.
